Gang of 13

You wanted the Gang of 13, here they are, in alphabetical order too! So if you don't like these people (who don't particularly like you), please come to the rally. Call them out. Make them accountable. Put pressure on them. Most of them just don't know better: they're new trustees who don't know AU. There are a few though who are as dedicated to their insider games as I am to keeping things open. Let them know: WE ARE WATCHING YOU.

Gary Abramson – his name has been mentioned as the next Chair.

David Carmen – the ring leader

Jack Cassell - the biggest surprise to me.

Pamela Deese – voted against accepting the Audit Committee report

Jerome Del Pino – the Methodist representative from their Higher Ed dept.

Fuad El Hibri – voted against the Audit report

Hani Farsi – horrible attendance rates at board meetings

Charles Lydecker – brand new Trustee and has never attended a Board meeting, listens to everyone else

Robyn Mathias – a former school principal who also voted against the Audit report

Regina Muelhauser – brand new Trustee, is a fan of secret Board action

John Petty – Ben’s best friend and former head of the Audit Committee, voted against the Audit Committee report (remember? Ben threw this guy a birthday party at $250 a head! gee, no wonder why he's biased)

Robert Pincus – a former Washington DC banker

Jeffrey Sine – UBS securities in NYC; worked to cut a deal with Ben for repaying the University for only $21,000 versus $125,000.

David Carmen's official company bio says he "instilled a business process that generates superior client results through a rigorous focus on innovation, goals, execution and accountability."

Accountability? Not at AU, I guess...

Where are you getting this information? If you know where someone can find out their attendence rates at board meetings, for example, you should publish it. Either you have access to a tremendous amount of information, or a trustee (or former trustee) is feeding you a lot of stuff.

If someone could photoshop one of those old Chinese anti-Gang of Four posters to show members of the Gang of Thirteen, that would be awesome.

There is only one John R Petty living in Virginia, and he is at

1402 Langley Pl

TecSec, the company (and defense contractor) that Petty works for is

Interestingly, Petty was Assistant Secretary for International Affairs under Johnson and Nixon, back when International Affairs consisted of bombing the shit out of Vietnam and supporting dictatorships across Latin America.

One Gary M Abramson of 11501 Huf Court, North Bethesda, MD 20895-1043 gave $10,000 to a Montgomery County councilwoman's campaign. I'd be surprised if it wasn't our guy.

David M. Carmen, the President and CEO of a the Carmen Group lobby, is a former advisor to Reagan and Bush, and was a member of George W. Bush's campaign team. He was once a speechwriter for the RNC. Hardcore Republican.

His e-mail is He lives in the District.

"top Carmen Group clients include Sunrise Assisted Living and Pyramid Management Group. Families of six nursing home residents--including the mother-in-law of Colorado Senate President John Andrews--sued Sunrise for negligence in 2003 after a resident starved to death. Pyramid Management was found guilty in 1996 of coercing and firing employees who tried to organize a union. Pyramid manages Albany’s Crossgates Mall, where shopper Stephen Downs was arrested in 2003 for wearing a T-shirt that said, “Give Peace a Chance.” Carmen Group’s most notorious client is the corrupt regime of Kazakhstan President Nursultan Nazarbayev. U.S. authorities are probing how $115 million from Amoco, Phillips Petroleum and Mobil landed in the foreign bank accounts of Nazarbayev and his top officials. In a solicitation obtained by the Financial Times, Gerald Carmen offered to burnish the regime’s U.S. image for just $1 million."

Doing a little more work on the internet, I have found that the shit that the Carmen Group works in is shoulder deep. In 2000, the dictatorship of Kazakhstan paid them $1,121,636, according to the Department of Justice.

It doesn't stop there. In 1997, his group represented Jörg Haider's extremist Austrian Freedom Party. At about the time, Haider was getting in a lot of trouble in the west as he praised the Waffen-SS several times in public and attended ceremonies with former nNazi party members. The party was disgraced when Haider insinuated that Austria's unemployment problem could be fixed if the nation emulated "the Third Reich." At the same time this was going on, the Carmen Group was representing the party, and they made $37,200 doing so.

Basically, this son of a bitch is willing to represent any group of thugs for a price.

Wow - Compared to Carmen's other buddies, Ben Ladner looks like Mother Teresa! Maybe that's why he can't see the problem.
